Despite the untimely loss of his sister, trainer Shane McGuigan has remained dedicated to helping Luke Campbell beat Vasiliy Lomachenko
Trainers may well be the most dedicated servants to the sport of boxing. Generally, they work the most hours for the least remuneration. Sometimes, they can be tested yet further.
Early into training camp for his man Luke Campbell’s big lightweight title fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko on August 31, coach Shane McGuigan tragically lost his sister Danika. Despite sadness understandably engulfing the McGuigan family, Shane still leant real commitment to Campbell’s cause.
For Luke, who lost his own father just two weeks before a previous world title shot, he not only empathised but was impressed with McGuigan’s determination.
