Derek Chisora‘s immediate future has taken another surprise twist.

The Londoner has been on a good run of form as of late, claiming victories over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin in his last three bouts to move back into world title contention.

His 50th professional fight is coming up, and after being linked with a number of opponents such as Jarrell Miller and Zhilei Zhang, a trilogy bout with long-term rival Dillian Whyte was revealed to be the one that was on the cards.

Whyte has been victorious in the previous two meetings with Chisora, winning their first bout by split decision in December 2016 before then claiming an 11th round stoppage win in the second contest in December 2018.

A third bout between the two men would have seen Chisora looking to gain revenge, but according to journalist Dan Rafael on social media, they will no longer meet on December 13, and Chisora won’t even compete on that date at all.

“BREAKING: Per source, heavyweights Derek Chisora & Dillian Whyte will not only not fight for the 3rd time on Dec. 13, as had been in the works, but Chisora will not fight on that date against anybody. (I’m am not yet sure of the reason.)”

While the news is yet to be officially confirmed, it would be a major blow for promoter Frank Warren if correct, having originally also planned for rising star Moses Itauma to feature on that card in December, before revealing last week the youngster now won’t return until 2026.
