A Hall of Fame great has offered to help coach Errol Spence Jr ahead of his return to the ring.

The former unified WBA, WBC and IBF world welterweight champion has been out of action since he was beaten by countryman Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford back in July of 2023.

Spence was outclassed by Crawford in their showdown for the undisputed welterweight championship before suffering a ninth round stoppage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but now ‘The Truth’ is set to make a move up to super-welterweight ahead of his long-awaited comeback to the sport.

Ahead of his return to the ring, Spence has been reached out to by four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr, who has offered to help coach the 35-year-old for his comeback.

Speaking on All The Smoke Fight, Jones revealed that he is set to travel out to Dallas to link up with Spence this week, as he claims he wants to ‘help him get back to it’.

“A lot of people do really love Errol Spence because he’s a down right, down to earth, very good guy. But I’m supposed to go work with him some tomorrow as a matter of fact.

“I’m going to go out to Dallas tomorrow to work with him a little bit. And I’ll see where he at, see where we can help him get back to it because I do want to see him get back on that horse and ride again.”

Jones Jr has previously worked with the likes of Jermall Charlo and Chris Eubank Jr, and could now go on to play a key role in the Spence’s inevitable return to the ring, as he sets his sights on becoming a world champion once again.
