Arslanbek Makhmudov has shared the ring with Dave Allen, so he is well placed to break down his upcoming fight with Filip Hrgovic.
Allen has had an entertaining career which has seen him thrown in with some of the best of his generation. He always gives a good account of himself, even if he has come up short against the likes of Dillain Whyte and Luis Ortiz.
He has secured big wins over Nick Webb, Johnny Fisher and Lucas Browne, though last time out he couldn’t get past the big punching Makhmudov, who had his hand raised after 12 tough rounds.
Now Allen goes into another big showdown in his hometown of Doncaster against Hrgovic, who has beaten Joe Joyce, Zhilei Zhang and David Adeleye but was stopped by Daniel Dubois back in June 2024.
Speaking to Boxing News, Makhmudov, who has just lost to Tyson Fury in his comeback fight, backed his former foe to come through with the win.
“Very good fight, very good fight, Dave Allen, I think he can beat him because he’s very strong, got a very tough chin this guy, and I think he has more confidence after his fight against me cause I hit him very hard but for him it’s OK. But I think he can beat him, I think so, of course his opponent is also very good, but it’s boxing, we’ll see.”
Allen has previously been told that a reward for him winning one of his big fights could be to share the ring with Anthony Joshua, who might again be looking for a warm-up opponent before stepping into the ring with Tyson Fury later this year.
