The Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn rematch is fast approaching and former world champion Paulie Malignaggi is the latest to offer his thoughts.
The first fight in April lived up to the hype, with both men working hard and throwing plenty of shots from the first to the final bell. It was Eubank who managed to get a foothold on the fight and come out as the unanimous points winner after 12 rounds.
They now prepare to do battle all over again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday 15 November, and two-weight world champion Malignaggi has made his prediction.
Speaking to Froch on Fighting, Malignaggi broke down the contest and sided with the bigger man, just.
“I think Conor has a chance, you would be stupid to think he doesn’t have a chance the way the first fight went. The first fight was very competitive, so you could see that either guy could win the fight.
“I do still favour Eubank, I think he’s a bit more crafty, I don’t know the exact weight of the rematch if it’s going to be 160 again, so that could come into play for Eubank. The weight was a big struggle.
“I slightly favour Eubank again. But I think it’s going to be close. It’s going to be competitive. I think these guys are made for each other like their fathers. I slightly lean to Eubank but it would be ignorant to say Conor can’t win the fight.”
Eubank narrowly missed weight for the first bout so it could again be a factor in the rematch if it is fought under the same conditions and with the same rehydration clause on the morning of the contest.
