Malik Scott has had the pleasure of rounds with two of the best heavyweights of a generation in Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
The former heavyweight contender turned trainer knows the Brit well, having sparred him and, years later, prepared his fighter Deontay Wilder to face him. He has also been in the gym with Usyk in the past.
There are few better then to predict the upcoming rematch after Usyk scored a split decision victory when they first met back in May to become undisputed champion.
That performance included a thrilling ninth round in which the Ukrainian had his man seriously hurt. Speaking to Manouk Akopyan, Scott praised the Ukrainian’s mindset and ability to throw sneaky shots.
“I just think Usyk is too stubborn for Fury to put up with. I think the punches that hurt you the most are the shots you don’t see. You don’t have to be a hard puncher to get guys in trouble. Usyk has a good understanding of that.”
Asked what Fury can do to avenge the loss, Scott simply said that he doesn’t believe he can.
“‘Boxing consumers’ think he’s bigger so he can just walk right to him. S**t, nobody just walk right to Oleksandr Usyk. I think Fury gets beat worse if he just walks right to him. He’ll be walking into all kinds of traps. I just don’t think Fury can beat Usyk. I really don’t.”
Fury has his shot at redemption on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
