Malik Scott Breaks Silence On Whether He’ll Still Be In Deontay Wilder’s Corner For Comeback Fight

Deontay Wilder‘s trainer Malik Scott has come under some criticism for his work with the former champion.

It was after Wilder came out on the wrong end of his second fight with Tyson Fury that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ hooked up with Malik Scott. However the third and final fight in the trilogy ended in another knockout defeat for Wilder, and he then had a long time out of the ring.

After a straightforward first round stoppage win over Robert Helenius he then took on Joseph Parker and lost on points, before being stopped inside five rounds by Zhilei Zhang in June.

Wilder barely threw a punch in anger in either of those fights and Scott has since come under plenty of fire from people, with fellow trainer Shane McGuigan saying Scott hasn’t trained anybody to win any fight of merit.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Scott was asked directly if he will still be working with Wilder as he gets back to camp ahead of a ring return.

“Absolutely, why wouldn’t I be? I’m one of the best trainers in the world.”

In the aftermath of Wilder’s latest loss, his father claimed Scott was trying to teach his son to be a boxer when he has always been much more of a puncher.

Scott has defended himself and claimed he is ‘not a miracle worker’ and seems sure he will continue to work with ‘The Bronze Bomber’, who has now confirmed his intentions to return to the ring in 2025.
