A former rival of Manny Pacquiao claims he has been offered the chance to face the Filipino superstar once again.
Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring on July 19 when he fought to a majority draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The 46-year-old had been out of action for four years prior to his showdown with Barrios but had put on an impressive display against the younger champion.
‘PacMan’ has shared the ring with a number of legendary fighters throughout the course of his decorated professional career, including Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather.
Another highly-rated fighter that crossed paths with Pacquiao on more than one occasion is four-weight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, who actually revealed the Filipino icon to be the hardest puncher he ever faced.
In an interview with Izquierdazo, Marquez claimed that he received an offer to face Pacquiao in an exhibition contest but reportedly turned this opportunity down after he says the legendary duo would ‘kill each other’.
“They’ve told me they want to do an exhibition, but do you think it would really be an exhibition with him? It would never be just an exhibition. And rounds of two minutes? We’d kill each other. Better to leave it as it is.”
Marquez sensationally knocked out Pacquiao in the sixth round of their fourth and final encounter back in December of 2012, earning himself a number of ‘Knockout Of The Year’ awards in the process.
