Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will do battle in an undisputed heavyweight title fight this summer.
These two heavyweights share all of the belts between them right now. Usyk holds the WBA, WBO and WBC titles, after first defeating Anthony Joshua, winning a rematch in 2022 and then moving on to a pair of fights with Tyson Fury in 2024.
The first one in May saw him take a points win and add the WBC belt to become undisputed champion, having done the same thing down at cruiserweight.
In order to honour the rematch with ‘The Gypsy King’ he had to vacate the IBF belt, which in the meantime was picked up by Dubois after he knocked out Filip Hrgovic.
‘DDD” then defended his title against Joshua back in September with a fifth round knockout, and though he was due to defend it again against Joseph Parker in February, he had to withdraw with illness.
He has already met Usyk in the ring once, back in August 2023, when he landed a shot that was controversially ruled low and had Usyk down, before the Brit was eventually stopped in the ninth round.
One man who has previously sparred both Usyk and Dubois is undefeated British heavyweight Fabio Wardley. The WBA number one ranked fighter told Pro Boxing Fans that he is expecting the same result as the first encounter.
“It’s a fantastic fight. Dubois has had a bit of learning since his first time with Usyk, so it still makes for a very intriguing fight, but I do think for the most part it’s pretty much going to go the same way.
Not to take anything away from Daniel and his progression over time, but ultimately Usyk is a hard man to bet against at the moment.”
The winner of the undisputed fight will likely have to go straight into a mandatory defence of the WBO belt against Joseph Parker, another former heavyweight champion who is waiting in the wings for his shot.
