The Only Man To Go The Distance With KO Artist Vergil Ortiz Delivers Honest Verdict On His Power

Vergil Ortiz Jr has an incredible 95% knockout ratio in his career.

He currently holds an undefeated record of 22-0, with 21 of those wins coming by stoppage, having beaten the likes of Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Maurice Hooker and Samuel Vargas inside the distance.

The only man to last the duration of the fight with Ortiz was Serhii Bohachuk, when they met for the WBC interim super-welterweight title in Las Vegas back in August.

Not only did Bohachuk last the distance, but he became the first man to drop Ortiz, knocking him down in both round one and round eight.

Despite touching the canvas on two occasions, Ortiz was able to claim a relatively controversial majority decision win to ensure he remained unbeaten and on course for a potential future world title shot.

Having experienced first hand the power of Ortiz, Bohachuk has now given his take on how hard his former opponent hits, telling Fight Hub TV that he isn’t as powerful as people may think.

“I have felt him. He is not strong. Before me he has 21 knockouts. I don’t feel this. I don’t feel this in the fight. He’s not very strong. He’s not a bad boxer, but not he’s a big puncher.”

Bohachuk returned to the ring this past Saturday where he beat late stand-in Ishmael Davis by corner retirement on the card topped by the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Ortiz is back in action in February when he defends his WBC interim belt against Israil Madrimov, who Bohachuk was originally scheduled to face next before Madrimov withdrew from the contest.
