A world-ranked middleweight is targeting a clash with Terence Crawford despite sharing the same coach as the unbeaten pound-for-pound great.
‘Bud’ Crawford etched his name into the boxing history books yet again earlier this month as he defeated Canelo Alvarez to capture the undisputed super-middleweight championship at a packed-out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The 37-year-old from Omaha became the first male fighter in the history of the sport to capture an undisputed championship in three weight classes, having already achieved this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.
Crawford’s relationship with long-term trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre has played a key role in the outstanding career success of the American great, who remains unbeaten in 42 bouts since his debut back in 2008.
Another fighter that ‘BoMac’ has recently linked back up with is Britain’s Chris Eubank Jr., who is currently preparing for his highly anticipated rematch with bitter rival Conor Benn.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Eubank was asked if he believes his partnership with McIntyre could get in the way of a potential clash with Crawford taking place in the future.
“I wouldn’t say so. I said after the fight, I’d love to share the ring with Terence. He’s seen as one of the pound-for-pound greats in the sport right now. I’m here to fight the big names. A fight with him, a fight with Canelo, I would love to share the ring with these guys.”
Eubank was first trained by ‘BoMac’ ahead of his rematch victory over countryman Liam Smith back in September of 2023, which saw the 36-year-old stop the former WBO light-middleweight champion in the 10th round of their second clash at the Manchester Arena.
