Filipino great Manny Pacquiao has been targeted for a showdown with a two-time world champion as he prepares to make his latest ring appearance.

The eight-division world champion made a sensational comeback to the sport back in the summer when he fought to a majority decision draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao put on an impressive display against the younger champion but ultimately fell short in his attempt at becoming the oldest world welterweight champion of all time, a record he actually broke back in 2019 when he defeated Keith Thurman.

As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for Pacquiao, retired two-time world champion Amir Khan appears to have expressed an interest in sharing the ring with the Filipino icon in the future.

Speaking on Clubhouse Boxing, Khan admitted that he would be open to facing Pacquiao should the opportunity present itself, although he claims that a potential return to the ring would be dependent on the ‘dancing partner’.

“It depends on the dancing partner. If it’s a dancing partner that I think I could do well against or I know well then yeah. Like a Manny Pacquiao, we’ve sparred with each other so many times.”

Khan’s final ring appearance came in February 2022 when he was stopped in the 6th round of his domestic showdown with long-term rival Kell Brook at the Manchester Arena.

Despite Khan’s claims, Pacquiao looks to be the front runner to lock horns with reigning WBA world welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next, with further updates expected to be made soon.
