Manny Pacquiao has launched a shock callout of Gervonta Davis.
Legendary boxer Pacquiao is the only eight-weight world champion in history who has just been announced as being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
He has defeated some of the biggest names in the sport during his career, including Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Marco Antonio Barrera, Tim Bradley, Erik Morales and Ricky Hatton.
It has been a while since ‘Pac-Man’ has been back in the ring though, as he hasn’t fought since a unanimous decision defeat to Yordenis Ugas back in August 2021.
He has been linked with a number of opponents during that time, including WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, and British star Conor Benn, but no fight has been able to materialise as of yet.
Pacquiao has now revealed another option, stating that a showdown with WBA lightweight champion Davis would interest him. Pacquiao told Seconds Out why he wants to face the hard-hitting American.
“I can fight anybody, even like Gervonta Davis … I’m not scared of anybody.”
Davis has a current record of 30-0 with 28 of those wins by knockout, and his most recent victory came when he stopped Frank Martin inside eight rounds back in June. He is now set to defend his WBA belt against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 in Brooklyn.
‘Tank’ surprised a lot of people this week when he claimed he would be retiring at the end of 2025, and he has named the three men he wants to face before he supposedly hangs up his gloves, with Pacquiao not one of them.
