Manny Pacquiao has not fought for a number of years but says he is still keen on a blockbuster return against Gervonta Davis.
Pacquiao is one of the true legends of the sport. The Filipino fighter won belts across four decades and in multiple weight divisions, starting down at flyweight and going up through featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight.
He had epic battles with the likes of Timothy Bradley, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and multiple fights with Juan Manuel Marquez, while the most famous of them all was a showdown with long-time rival Floyd Mayweather in 2015 that was the highest-grossing fight of all time.
‘The Pacman’ won belts in eight weight divisions in total but last fought in August 2021 when he lost to Yordenis Ugas. He also made a failed attempt to compete at the Paris Olympic Games after he was deemed too old.
Now 46, he has often spoken of a return and has now suggested he is willing to take on 30-year-old American Davis, a hard-hitting multi-weight world champion and current belt holder in the lightweight division.
Speaking to Second Out, he was asked who he would most like to fight were he to return.
“Either I can fight Floyd again, or I can fight anybody like Gervonta Davis.”
Asked if he really wanted to fight someone as young and hungry as Davis, Pacquiao remained ice cold saying ‘he’s not scared’ of anybody.
Despite the callout from Pacquiao, Davis is still currently focused on his next fight, where he defends his WBA world title against Lamont Roach on March 1 in New York.
