Manny Pacquiao Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Naoya Inoue Would Beat Gervonta Davis

Manny Pacquiao has shared his views on a potential showdown between Naoya Inoue and Gervonta Davis.

Inoue, who is known simply as ‘The Monster’, currently reigns as the undisputed super-bantamweight champion and remains unbeaten through all 30 of his professional bouts, stopping no less than 27 of his opponents since his debut 13-years-ago.

‘Tank’ Davis is also unbeaten as a professional, currently reigning as the WBA world lightweight champion. The 30-year-old from Baltimore made the most recent defence of his crown against Lamont Roach Jr in March, although the fight ended in a split decision draw after a competitive 12-rounds in New York City.

Davis has previous called a potential matchup against Inoue has his ‘dream’ fight‘ in the sport.

“That would be a fun fight. Now that would be technical. That fight right there, me and him… I’ll probably be too big for him, but that fight right there it’s like [a dream] fight.”

Whilst speaking to the media ahead of his sensational comeback, which comes against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios next month, Pacquiao was asked who he thinks would come out on top in a potential ‘super-fight’ between the two stars.

“Inoue. Inoue is fast. Inoue’s style is like when I was young.”

‘The Monster’ returned to the ring against Ramon Cardenas last month, stopping the 29-year-old in the eighth round of their bout in Las Vegas to make the fourth successful defence of his undisputed super-bantamweight championship.

Inoue is expected to fight once more before the end of 2025, with rumours circulating that he will lock horns with former unified super-bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev, who has been on the Japanese star’s radar for quite some time.

‘Tank’ Davis is reportedly on the verge of finalising a highly-anticipated rematch against Roach, with the fight set to take place in Las Vegas on August 16 with an official announcement set to be made in the coming weeks.
