Reports of a potential showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Gervonta Davis have started to circulate once again.
Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring after a 4-year hiatus earlier this month when he drew with reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on July 19.
As for ‘Tank’, the 30-year-old from Baltimore retained his WBA world lightweight title against Lamont Roach Jr back in March. Davis had been scheduled to face Roach in a rematch next, but it appears this could now be on the back-burner.
In an interview with Seconds Out before the Barrios fight, Pacquiao made his feelings clear about a potential showdown with Davis, claiming he’s ‘not scared’ of facing the knockout artist, despite being well into his 40’s.
“I can fight anybody, even like Gervonta Davis … I’m not scared of anybody.”
The Filipino icon declared he ‘likes the fight’ against the unbeaten champion who has a 90% knockout ratio.
“I like that fight [against Davis], I like that..”
Pacquiao has already confirmed he intends to continue his career after drawing with Barrios, meaning a potential clash with ‘Tank’ could be on the horizon for the eight-division world champion who came extremely close to becoming the oldest world welterweight champion of all time on July 19.
