Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford has got the whole boxing world talking.

The fight is set to take place in Las Vegas in September, bringing together two of the current best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.

Canelo was last in action in September when he defeated Edgar Berlanga to regain his unified super-middleweight titles. Before he faces Crawford, he will meet William Scull in May, looking to capture the IBF belt and once again become undisputed at 168lbs.

Crawford’s last bout came in August, defeating Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to win the WBA super-welterweight title, becoming a four-weight world champion in the process.

He is now tasked with stepping up two more divisions from 154lbs to 168lbs, making the huge leap to super-middleweight for the clash against Alvarez.

One man who proudly flew the flag for Mexico before Canelo took over was boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez, who had four historic fights with Manny Pacquiao and also shared the ring with the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Marco Antonio Barrera during his career.

Marquez knows all about moving divisions, having been a four-weight world champion from featherweight to super-lightweight, but he told Fighthype that he feels Crawford will be too small and is only taking the fight with Canelo for the money, claiming ‘two divisions is too big’,

“In the sport of boxing we have divisions. Two divisions is too big for Crawford. Crawford thinks the money is the most important for this fight.

“I think Crawford thinks currently the most important thing for me is my bank account is good.”

Marquez isn’t the only boxing legend to make their prediction known for the fight, with Roy Jones Jr also making his stance clear.
