Mexican great Juan Manuel Marquez has revealed who he believes was a better fighter between former rivals Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Marquez is widely considered to be one of the greatest fighters of his generation which he backed up by winning world titles in four weight classes during his decorated professional career.
Known as ‘Dynamite’, Marquez shared the ring with a number of legendary fighters along the way, including former pound-for-pound superstars Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Marquez and Pacquiao actually shared the ring on four separate occasions during their respective careers although the Mexican great was only capable of beating ‘PacMan’ in the fourth and final clash in December of 2012.
‘Dynamite’ and Mayweather shared the ring on just one occasion back in September 2009 as ‘Money’ dominated Marquez over 12 rounds in their non-title bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In a resurfaced feature with The Ring Magazine, Marquez made no mistake in naming Pacquiao as a better fighter than Mayweather as he claims the Filipino great was the ‘best of his time’.
“Pacquiao: Without doubt, the best pound-for-pound of his time and I faced him at his best.”
Pacquiao made a shock return to the ring back in July when he fought to a majority draw against WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios, although many believe the 47-year-old had done enough to be declared the winner.
‘PacMan’ is now in line to fight for the 74th time as a professional this year, with reports suggesting that the eight-division world champion will challenge WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next.
