Juan Manuel Marquez shared the ring with boxing legends like Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather and Marco Antonio Barrera.
His legendary career saw him become a three-weight world champion from featherweight to lightweight, and finish with a record of 56 wins, 7 defeats and 1 draw.
He had four iconic fights with Pacquiao, losing two and drawing one, but winning their fourth and final encounter via a memorable sixth round knockout.
Marquez defeated Barrera in another great battle, but did come up short when he met Mayweather. Marquez has compared the trio whilst speaking to Ring Magazine, and named who hit harder out of the three.
“Pacquiao: In all the fights I had, nobody hit me harder than him.”
Marquez also praised Pacquiao in a number of other areas, including his defence and his strength.
“He took a good shot and he always returned stronger. He is great at closing his defense, he has a good guard and it is very hard to land (a clean punch). After four fights with him, I was able to know him better. I also learned his mistakes.
“When he fought, he moved his hips a lot. Then I analyzed that all his power came from there, in the hips. I understood that he couldn’t do his power moves and he would have problems if I used speed so I started fighting different. Without doubt, the best pound-for-pound of his time and I faced him at his best.”
It is currently unknown whether Pacquiao will return to the ring, with a deadline over a potential fight fast approaching.
