Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez has predicted the outcome of the upcoming mega-fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The pound-for-pound superstars are pencilled in to face each other in Las Vegas this September, with Canelo’s unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles set to be at stake.

‘Bud’ Crawford is 41-fights in to a glittering professional career where he has captured world title across four weight divisions. The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska moved up to 154lbs last August to dethrone WBA champion Israil Madrimov, albeit in an underwhelming performance.

Speaking in a video clip on social media, Marquez backed his countryman to get the job done against Crawford as he predicts a knockout win for the 34-year-old.

“I think it’s a dangerous fight for Terence Crawford. Maybe yes, Canelo wins by knockout.”

It was confirmed over the weekend that Canelo will face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the Mexican star aiming to become a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico held all four world titles at super middleweight up until last July after he opted to face Edgar Berlanga Jr instead of Scull, who became the mandatory challenger to the IBF crown last year. Scull captured the vacant title with a win over Vladimir Shishkin in October, as he now gears up to face the biggest test of his career.

If successful in May, Canelo will hold all four super middleweight world titles once again, which will raise the stakes of his bout against Crawford significantly higher. An official announcement is set to be made in the coming weeks.
