Juan Manuel Marquez Predicts Floyd Mayweather vs ‘Prime’ Manny Pacquiao After Facing Both

Mexican great Juan Manuel Marquez is one of the few fighters in boxing history to face prime versions of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather is often regarded as being one of, if not the greatest fighter of all time, winning multiple world titles across five weight divisions throughout the course of his decorated 21-year professional career which spanned between 1996 and 2017.

As for Pacquiao, the Filipino great also enjoyed a great deal of success during his own tenure where he became the only fighter in boxing history to win world titles in eight weight classes, ranging from flyweight to super-welterweight.

Their paths finally crossed back in May of 2015 after years of waiting, but their monumental showdown in Las Vegas failed to live up to expectations as Mayweather cruised to a wide unanimous decision victory to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles.

In a social media clip, Marquez didn’t hesitate to back Mayweather to get the better of Pacquiao had the legendary duo crossed paths during their respective prime years.

“I think Floyd because he has a difficult style. I said for a fight you need two fighters and Floyd is very, very difficult to connect [with] punches. He’s a top fighter.”

Despite being linked to a rematch with Pacquiao recently, Mayweather has not fought as a professional since he defeated UFC fighter Conor McGregor in August 2017.

The 49-year-old from Michigan has participated in a number of exhibition bouts since then, with his most recent ring appearance coming against John Gotti III two years ago.
