A boxing legend has called out Floyd Mayweather for a fight to end their ongoing feud.
Mayweather retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, having become a five-weight world champion from super-featherweight to super-welterweight and defeated fellow greats like Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez during that time.
Despite it being nearly a decade since he hung up his gloves, Mayweather has been constantly linked with a return to take on an abundance of fighters, and now a Hall of Fame inductee is the latest to call out Mayweather for a bout.
The man in question is Roy Jones Jr, who is a legend in his own right, having become a four-weight world champion after claiming gold at middleweight, super-middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
In recent times, Jones Jr has had various things to say about Mayweather, first stating that he doesn’t believe Mayweather can be classed as a great, before also claiming that he would have suffered a defeat to Sugar Ray Leonard.
Mayweather has seemingly got wind of those comments, leading to him to post a video on social media watching Jones Jr get knocked out during one of his final fights.
Jones Jr now wants to end the back and forth once and for all, after releasing a video on social media calling out Mayweather to come out of retirement and fight.
“What’s happening fight fans around the world? I know y’all enjoy this thing of boxing, how we play games and people have their issues, opinions. That’s cool. I got opinions and I’m allowed to speak my opinions. If somebody was trying to send me a subliminal message, it works. If you want to prove that you’re better than me, I’m always ready. Wide open. Ready to go. Call me.”
While a fight between the two boxing legends would certainly garner a lot of attention, it is unlikely that boxing fans will see it happen.
