Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson are arguably the two best lightweights on the planet.

Davis is the reigning WBA lightweight champion, while Stevenson holds the WBC crown at 135lbs, but sadly the two men are yet to square off with one another inside the ring.

‘Tank’ returns in March when he makes the latest defence of his belt against Lamont Roach, while Stevenson is in action a month prior when he puts his title on the line against Floyd Schofield.

One man who knows a thing or two about being classed as the best is boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, as shown with his ‘TBE’ nickname.

Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record back in 2017, having become a five-weight world champion during his historic career.

Mayweather has now been comparing the the abilities of both Davis and Stevenson whilst speaking to the Come And Talk 2 Me Podcast, and he has praised each man for different reasons.

“The biggest puncher at 135 would probably be Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, but the most skilful fighter at 135 would be, hands down, Shakur Stevenson.

“It’s really all about skills. Pernell Whitaker wasn’t a huge puncher, but he was very exciting, very tough and he fought everybody. Shakur’s trying do the same thing. He want to fight the best they got out there. He’s asking can he fight the best.”

A battle between Davis and Stevenson would be one of the biggest fights to be currently made in boxing, but ‘Tank’ appears to not be interested in the bout given his recent comments.
