Floyd Mayweather has had his say on Terence Crawford‘s victory over Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford picked up the biggest win of his career earlier this month as he defeated Canelo by unanimous decision at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, becoming the new undisputed super-middleweight champion in the process.

The win has resulted in many people declaring Crawford as their current pound-for-pound number one, after an illustrious career that has seen him go 42-0, become a five-weight world champion and the only man to be an undisputed three-weight world champion.

Those accolades have led to many comparisons being made with boxing legend Mayweather, who was a five-weight world champion in his own right and retired with a perfect 50-0 record.

He was the first man to defeat Canelo back in September 2013, something that only he, Crawford and Dmitry Bivol have managed to do in the Mexican superstar’s 68-fight career.

Mayweather has now spoken out about Crawford’s triumph against Canelo, telling TMZ Sports that he felt the ‘best man won’ in their clash.

“It was good for boxing, it was exciting and the best man won.

I don’t know [if Canelo is washed up now], boxing has a lot of wear and tear on the body, maybe so, I’m not really sure. It’s up to them if they want to do a rematch, if they want to then do it, if not, keep it moving.”

While many fans continue to debate who was better between Crawford and Mayweather, Canelo has given his view having felt first hand what it was like to take on both men.
