In the eyes of many, Floyd Mayweather is the greatest fighter in boxing history.
‘Money’ Mayweather retired from the sport undefeated back in 2017, having won all fifty he took during his 21-year professional career.
Throughout the course of his exceptional career, the 48-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan faced an abundance of generational greats, including the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez.
After beating all three of the above, who have all had outstanding professional careers in their own rights, Mayweather revealed in a resurfaced interview that ‘PacMan’ was the best fighter he ever locked horns with.
“The best fighter I fought probably was Manny Pacquiao because of his movement.
“He’s a hell of a fighter and I can see why he won so many fights and I can see why he’s going down as a Hall of Famer, there’s just certain moves that he makes.”
Mayweather and Pacquiao’s 2015 showdown in Las Vegas was billed as ‘The Fight Of The Century’, although the fight itself failed to live up to its monumental expectations due to both men being past their best.
The American was given the nod across all three of the judges scorecards and was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
A rematch was reportedly being discussed, but never came to fruition. Mayweather walked away from the professional ranks after defeating MMA legend Conor McGregor in 2017, whilst Pacquiao is now gearing up for a sensational return to the ring against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, four years on from his last ring appearance against Yordenis Ugas.
