Barry McGuigan is the latest to weigh in own whether or not Chris Eubank Jr should now draw his career to an end.

Eubank has fought 39 times since his debut in 2015 and been involved in huge fights, particularly with fellow Brits, such as Billy Joe Saunders, James DeGale and George Groves.

Most recently, he has shared the ring with generational rival Conor Benn twice, winning the first fight by unanimous decision then losing a near shutout in the reverse, though many suspect his meek performance suggested he was overly weight drained.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, former world champion McGuigan first reacted to the fight itself.

“Poor old Chris, I think he’s tired. He looked very tired in the fight. Worn, and he’s been around for a long time. He’s had a great career and we came across him with George Groves back in 2017 so he’s had a long career and it looked like that on Saturday.

“He looked tired, exhausted, innervated and weak and insipid at times, and Benn just walked through him. I don’t think there’s any point in a third match.”

He then gave his view that Eubank should now walk away from the sport for good.

“I genuinely think it would be unsafe for Eubank to fight at that weight again. I think he’s done. He’s had his day, they earned a staggering amount of money. He should sail off into the sunset and not take any more risks.”

Eubank tentatively suggested he would be up for a trilogy with Benn, though there seems to be little interest. His promoter, Ben Shalom, has since suggested that after a rest, there are still big plans for his fighter.
