Heavyweight great Mike Tyson has confirmed that he will be making a controversial return to action this year.
The 59-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion made a sensational comeback to the sport back in November 2024 when he faced Jake Paul in an eight round bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
Tyson went the distance with the former YouTube sensation but was quite visibly a shadow of his once formidable self in what was his first ring appearance since he faced Ireland’s Kevin McBride back in June of 2005.
Whilst he was urged to go back into retirement following his clash with Paul, Tyson left the door open for a return to the sport and the 59-year-old has all but confirmed that he will be acting on this in 2026.
‘Iron Mike’ announced back in September that he would be participating in an exhibition contest with former pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather next, with reports suggesting that the legendary American duo will face each other by the summer.
In a recent interview with Mike Babcock of TMZ Sports, Tyson confirmed that the fight with Mayweather is still happening, although an official announcement is yet to be made.
“Yeah, it’s happening. S***, yeah, it’s happening! You think I’d give that up?! I was minding my business! He challenged me!”
Mayweather has not fought as a professional since he faced MMA fighter Conor McGregor back in August 2017, but the 48-year-old from Michigan has participated in a number of exhibition clashes since then.
The five-division world champion was last in action back in August 2024 when he faced John Gotti III over eight rounds at the Mexico City Arena.
