Mike Tyson Made His Feelings Clear On Facing Floyd Mayweather Long Before The Two Agreed To Fight

Shockwaves have been sent through the boxing world after it was revealed that Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr would be facing each other next.

It was reported overnight that the boxing legends have signed to share the ring in an exhibition contest next, with an official announcement expected to be made in due course.

‘Iron Mike’ made a sensational return to the ring for the first time in just shy of 20 years last November when he faced Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an eight round heavyweight bout, suffering a unanimous decision defeat to the 28-year-old from Cleveland at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Mayweather announced his retirement from the sport back in 2017 after he defeated MMA legend Conor McGregor in their monumental crossover showdown, but the 48-year-old from Michigan has returned to the ring on a number of occasions since then, facing the likes of Logan Paul, Tenshin Nasukawa and Aaron Chalmers in exhibition bouts.

With a fight between Tyson and Mayweather now agreed a clip has resurfaced of the former undisputed heavyweight champion being asked which one fighter in history he wish he could have faced and named none other than Mayweather.

“Floyd Mayweather. I would love to have fought him, I wish he was my weight.”

‘Iron Mike’ appeared to be a shadow of his once formidable self when he stepped into the ring with Jake Paul last year, with many viewers expressing their concerns at the now 59-year-old being allowed to make a return to the sport after so many years.

‘Money’ Mayweather has left the door open for a return to the sport since his last outing back in August 2024, which came in his rematch against John Gotti III at the Mexico City Arena.
