Mike Tyson Names His Favourite Fighter

Mike Tyson is the favourite fighter of many boxing fans worldwide.

Especially in the early years of his career, ‘Iron’ Mike was a fearsome knockout artist who stopped almost all comers in double-quick time. He is the youngest man to ever become the heavyweight champion and it is often said that he had many fights won even before he entered the ring given his terrifying aura and desire to inflict pain on his opponents, which is how he became known as “the Baddest Man on the Planet”.

Speaking to Million Dollar Worth of Game, Tyson was asked for his top five fighters of all time and reeled off plenty from across the generations.

“Duran’s in there, Sonny Liston’s in there, Salvador Sanchez, Robinson definitely, there’s too many, I’ll go all the way down to Joe Gans, the first black champion ever.”

In amongst those names he mentioned that his all-time number one was ‘The Greatest.’

“Ali’s on top.”

In addition to his admiration for the footwork, toughness, and heart of Muhammad Ali, Tyson has previously spoken of his respect for Salvador Sanchez, a great Mexican who he described as ‘a monster.’

He will have to channel his own inner monster when he takes on YouTuber turned-professional boxer Jake Paul in November.

Paul has had just nine fights but is almost 30 years younger than Tyson which has got many people worried about what might transpire in the contest, though plenty are backing Tyson to win by stoppage.

If the fight goes ahead, the 58-year-old will be coming back from two decades out of the ring, something unheard of in such a punishing sport even despite the level of competition on offer here.
