Mike Tyson is almost set for a remarkable return to the ring.
‘Iron Mike’ meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday 15 November, and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
It’s a highly controversial bout that has divided opinion within the sport, with many onlookers believing that Tyson shouldn’t be stepping back into the ring at the age of 58.
The fight was originally set to take place in July, but had to be postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up following a medical incident on a flight.
While ‘Iron Mike’ is focusing on Paul and aiming to prove his doubters wrong, there is another boxer that has caught his attention, who he believes would defeat all comers.
That man is David Benavidez, the undefeated sensation that recently stepped up from 168lbs to win the WBC interim light-heavyweight title.
Benavidez is due to take on fellow unbeaten fighter David Morrell in his next bout, and Tyson has told ESNews that he feels ‘The Mexican Monster’ can defeat anyone.
“I like him against everybody.”
“He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, and I’m talking facts.”
Tyson will be a keen observer when Benavidez takes on Morrell in January, and ‘Iron Mike’ has also recently named the former opponent that had the best chin.
