Mike Tyson Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Chances Of Beating Canelo Perfectly In Just 3 Words

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez are just several months away from meeting in arguably the biggest fight in boxing.

The pound-for-pound stars will do battle on Saturday September 13 at an unconfirmed venue in the United States, with Las Vegas set to play host to the highly anticipated ‘mega-fight’.

Canelo will make the first defence of his undisputed super-middleweight championship in what will be his second reign as champion, after he defeated William Scull to add the IBF super-middleweight title to his collection on May 2.

In an interview with iFL TV, retired heavyweight legend Mike Tyson had his say on the chances of Crawford defying the odds and defeating Canelo in September, claiming it will ‘not be impossible’ for the 37-year-old to prevail.

“There’s been men that have beat people, they’re beating people bigger than them, two divisions bigger than them, it’s not impossible.

Henry Armstrong was a featherweight and he beat the middleweight champ! At 130lbs he beat the welterweight champ then he fought a draw with the middleweight champ, so I think size means nothing [but] determination means everything.”

Should ‘Bud’ Crawford be victorious against the Mexican superstar, he will become the first three-weight undisputed world champion in boxing history, having already achieved that status at light-welterweight and welterweight.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska has not fought at a division higher than light-middleweight, with his 154lb debut coming last August when he outpointed Israil Madrimov to capture the WBA title.

Canelo has been a dominant force at super-middleweight since he made the move up from 160lbs seven years ago, defeating the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin, Jaime Munguia and Jermell Charlo to name a few.
