Mike Tyson Delivers Honest Verdict On Shakur Stevenson vs Gervonta Davis: “It Looks Like He Wins”

Heavyweight great Mike Tyson has shared his verdict on a unification clash between Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.

The unbeaten lightweight stars have been on a collision course for quite some time now, but a showdown between the pair is yet to come to fruition.

Stevenson currently reigns as the WBC champion, with his most recent defence coming against the previously unbeaten Mexican contender William Zepeda last month in New York City.

As for Davis, the 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland retained his WBA crown back in March, fighting to a draw against countryman Lamont Roach Jr, although many felt that ‘Tank’ was very lucky to not suffer the first defeat of his career.

In an interview with iFL TV, ‘Iron’ Mike said picking an out-and-out winner is ‘tough,’ though said ‘Tank’ is the winner on paper.

“Tough one. On record it looks like Tank’s the winner. But Shakur’s one of those fighters that we were talking about in the car coming up here, he is so much better than what he looks like so I’m sure when Tank gets in there it’s not gonna be as easy as he anticipated.”

Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has expressed an interest in making the fight – potentially the most intriguing style clash in the sport – happen soon.

Fans could be made to wait longer or miss out entirely, however, after ‘Tank’ Davis made the headlines last month when he was arrested on a domestic charge in Miami, adding to numerous issues outside of the ropes that have hampered his career. He was set to rematch Roach, however the challenger now says that feels unlikely.
