Moses Itauma and his team have struggled to secure an opponent for the much hyped heavyweight hopeful.

Last time out, the youngster impressed once again as he managed to knock out Dillian Whyte inside the very first round. That was the ninth time in 13 fights Itauma has stopped his opponent inside the first two rounds and the performance had many people saying he was ready to fight undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

However, he is being built a little more slowly and was in contention to take on former world title challenger and Anthony Joshua victim Kubrat Pulev for his WBA regular belt.

Speaking to BoxNation, promoter Frank Warren was asked about the WBA instead sanctioning Pulev for a December heavyweight fight with Murat Gassiev despite the Bulgarian being initially ordered to face Itauma.

“I’ve got to be honest, I’m p**sed off with that. Why on earth would you put out the Pulev fight? Surely you wait for that fight to be over and you fight the winner. How are we supposed to negotiate with Pulev when he has another fight on? It’s so stupid, so ridiculous and such a bloody waste of time.”

The Queensberry man then gave an update on when Itauma’s next contest will be revealed.

“We had a meeting this morning and we’re going to be announcing something next week.”

Itauma will be looking to fight someone who can give him more rounds and more experience, though the likes of Filip Hrgovic, who many saw as a perfect next step, reportedly turned down the challenge.
