A heavyweight contender has claimed that Moses Itauma is not yet ready to step into the ring with him.
Itauma is indeed only 21-years-old but he has already had 13 professional fights, and he has won every one of them. 11 victories came by way of knockout and been more impressively, nine of those have been inside the first two rounds, while his last outing was his best yet as he stopped former world title challenger Dillian Whyte inside two just minutes.
He next fights on Saturday, January 24, against the durable American Jermaine Franklin, who has taken both Whyte and former unified ruler Anthony Joshua the distance on both previous occasions he visited UK shores, with some thinking he could provide the sternest test that Itauma needs at this point in his career.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Croatian talent Filip Hrgovic suggested that he is too strong an opponent for Itauma right now, despite the young fighter’s impressive recent run of quick KO wins.
“He’s too young. I’m too dangerous for him, He’s too young, too green. Maybe a few fights, he will get out.”
Should Itauma come through his fight with Franklin, he could fight the well-ranked Murat Gassiev who recently knocked out Kubrat Pulev.
Alternatively, he might fancy his chances against Hrgovic, who has a controversial split decision win over Zhilei Zhang, and was stopped by Daniel Dubois back in June 2024, but has beaten the likes of Joe Joyce and David Adeleye on points in his last two contests in 2025.
