Shane Mosley has shared an honest assessment of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr‘s performance against Jake Paul.

The 39-year-old from Culiacan, Mexico was comprehensively beaten by YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in their ten round cruiserweight showdown at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday night.

Paul took control of the fight from the opening bell as he dominated the former WBC world middleweight champion for the duration of their bout, with most viewers expressing their disappointment towards Chavez for a lacklustre performance.

One man who has given an honest verdict of the 39-year-old’s efforts is retired three-weight world champion Mosley, who revealed in an interview with Fight Hub TV just how impressed he was with Paul’s performance.

“First of all, I think that Jake Paul fought a great fight, he moved around the way he’s supposed to, throwing great punches and for the experience he had, he did fantastic.”

Mosley followed this up with sharing a damning verdict on how Chavez conducted himself against Paul, as he brandishes the Mexican’s performance as ‘weird’.

“Junior on the other hand, he didn’t throw any punches until the third or fourth round or something, he was kind of just walking forward and I don’t know what he was doing, it was weird, it was weird to see that type of fighting but that’s not Jake Paul’s fault, Jake Paul did what he needed to do and he won and he looked good.”

Chavez could go on to announce his retirement from the sport after suffering yet another blow to his professional career, although this is yet to be confirmed by the Mexican himself.

As for Paul, the 28-year-old from Cleveland made a series of callouts just moments after he was declared the winner, as he targets a potential clash with either WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez or WBC champion Badou Jack.
