Hall of Fame inductee Shane Mosley has named the one fighter he faced during his career with the best jab.
Known for his aggressive fighting style, Mosley established himself as one of the best fighters on the planet at the peak of his decorated 23-year professional career.
The California-native became a world champion in several weight classes along the way, including winning the unified WBC and WBA light-middleweight titles which he captured with a victory over countryman Oscar De La Hoya back in 2003.
Mosley would go on to share the ring with a number of generational greats in the years that followed, such as former pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather.
‘Sugar Shane’ called time on his career after he was beaten by David Avanesyan in May of 2016, walking away from the sport with a professional record of 49-10-1 to his name.
Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Mosley reflected on some of the fighters that he had faced during his tenure, naming De La Hoya and Ronald ‘Winky’ Wright as the two fighters who stood out to him for having the best jabs.
“De La Hoya and Wright. They both had a really good jab.”
Mosley produced two memorable wins over De La Hoya, defeating ‘The Golden Boy’ via split decision in the summer of 2000 before he outpointed his countryman once again several years later.
The same cannot be said for Mosley’s two encounters with Wright however, after he was beaten by the two-time light-middleweight champion twice within an eight month period in 2004.
