Shane Mosley has questioned the credentials of former rival Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather’s professional career spanned just over two decades, beginning in October of 1996 a few months after he walked away from the Olympic Games in Atlanta with a bronze medal.
He remained unbeaten throughout the entirety of his tenure, defeating all 50 of the opponents he faced including the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Manny Pacquiao, facing the latter in the ‘Fight Of The Century’ back in 2015.
Another impressive victory that ‘Money’ picked up during his career came against Mosley, when he outpointed his countryman in their non-title bout 15 years ago.
Despite starting the fight very well and even hurting his rival in the early rounds, Mosley could not capitalize on this and suffered a wide unanimous decision defeat.
Speaking to ESNEWS, Mosley shared his thoughts on Mayweather’s 2015 battle with Pacquiao, where he claims he believed the Filipino icon actually done enough on the night to get his hand raised.
“I think that Mayweather was staying away, not like Devin Haney but he was staying away. I thought that Manny threw more punches and they said Mayweather threw more punches, but I was there – I knew Manny threw way more punches than Floyd, and then they had Floyd throwing more punches than Manny so I figured they had the card switched or something.
“Anyway, I thought Manny might have outpointed Mayweather on that fight but the cards and everything seemed differently so I don’t know.”
Despite the hype surrounding Mayweather’s showdown with Pacquiao, the fight itself failed to live up to expectations on fight night with many fans arguing that it should have taken place at least five years earlier.
