Former three-weight world champion Shane Mosley believes former rival Floyd Mayweather should have been handed at least one defeat during his professional career.
‘Money’ Mayweather had an outstanding professional career of his own which culminated in the Michigan-native capturing world titles in five weight classes along the way.
The former pound-for-pound superstar won each of his 50 bouts as a professional, producing legacy-defining victories over the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto.
His career eventually came to an end in 2017, shortly after he stopped MMA fighter Conor McGregor in the 10th round of their monumental crossover showdown at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Another memorable victory of Mayweather’s came in May of 2010 when he defeated countryman Shane Mosley by unanimous decision at the conclusion of their non-title bout.
In an interview with ESNEWS, Mosley opened up about Mayweather’s 2015 win over long-term rival Manny Pacquiao as he claims the Filipino great should have been declared the winner instead.
“I think that Floyd was staying away, not like Devin Haney but he was staying away.
“I thought that Manny threw more punches and they said Floyd threw more punches, but I was there – I knew Manny threw way more punches than Floyd, and then they had Floyd throwing more punches than Manny so I figured they had the card switched or something.
“Anyway, I thought Manny might have outpointed Floyd on that fight but the cards and everything seemed differently so I don’t know.”
Whilst many expected Mayweather’s much-anticipated clash with Pacquiao to be a classic, the fight itself failed to live up to expectations as ‘Money’ cruised to a wide unanimous decision victory over the eight-division world champion.
