Shane Mosley Says One Man Stood Above The Rest In His 61 Fight Career: “He’s The Best I Faced”

Shane Mosley shared the ring with a number of legendary fighters during his career, including the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Mosley became a world champion in three weight classes throughout the course of his tenure which began back in 1993 following an impressive amateur career.

The bulk of his success came during the late 1990s into the early 2000s where he racked up legacy defining victories over the likes of Jesse James Leija, Fernando Vargas and Oscar De La Hoya, beating ‘The Golden Boy’ in 2000 and 2003 respectively.

Mosley did suffer his fair share of defeats along the way however, falling short to former pound-for-pound greats Mayweather and Pacquiao, as well as Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

In a round of ‘Best I Faced’ with The Ring Magazine, ‘Sugar Shane’ didn’t hesitate to reveal fellow countryman Mayweather as the best fighter that he ever crossed paths with during his career, as he claims the five-weight world champion had ‘everything’.

“Best boxer would probably have to be Floyd. It’s how he evades punches with a blend of his defence and his offence. He’s always on his toes and he’s always slipping and sliding.

Best overall would have to be Floyd. He had everything. He had about three different categories where he was the best at. Floyd was the best overall fighter. The most speed, best defence and a good jab and good offence. I think that it’s also what he does with his movement and his angles.”

Mosley locked horns with ‘Money’ Mayweather in a non-title bout in Las Vegas back in May of 2010, suffering the sixth defeat of his career to his fellow countryman in the process.

Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, becoming a five-weight world champion and retiring undefeated at 50-0 following victories over fellow icons such as Pacquiao, De La Hoya and Canelo.
