Prince Naseem Hamed has been discussing the upcoming rematch that sees Oleksandr Usyk once again take on Daniel Dubois at heavyweight.
This clash between two of the division’s most in-form men marks the second undisputed bout in the division in just over a year.
Usyk won the first one when he beat Tyson Fury last May, and then again in December, though in the meantime, he had to vacate the IBF belt, which Dubois picked up with his win over Filip Hrgovic and defended when he knocked out Anthony Joshua in his last contest.
For Usyk, the rematch offers the former undisputed cruiserweight ruler a historic opportunity to become the first fighter ever to be undisputed at heavyweight twice in the four-belt era.
He enters the ring undefeated, having secured back-to-back victories over Joshua before Fury, and in between those landmark wins, he also stopped Dubois with a ninth-round knockout in August 2023.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, ‘Prince Naz’ predicted that the newly-improved Dubois will be the man to finally get the better of the great Usyk, claiming he’s the only fighter to ever have the Ukrainian hurt.
“Triple D baby, all day, every day.
In my eyes, Triple D is the only one who has ever hurt Usyk and put him down on the floor and made him think, and he was down there for like three, four minutes.
Who’s to say once he fights Uysk again, he won’t go out there and absolutely destroy him and bring our belts back to our country like it’s supposed to be.”
Dubois has not fought since September so will be hoping to show no ring rust as he attempts to add three more belts to his collection on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
