Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois face off in an all-British heavyweight banger next month.
The fight will see Dubois put his new IBF World Title – gained when Oleksandr Usyk vacated it – on the line against Joshua, giving the more-experienced fighter a chance at becoming a three-time champion.
Both men are in good form after their respective losses to Usyk, who bested Joshua twice over the distance and stopped Dubois. ‘AJ’ has beaten Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou inside the distance in his last three whilst Dubois has scored hard-fought stoppages over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic – both previously undefeated.
The card is set to break the record for attendance at a boxing event at Wembley Stadium and features top British talent. Prince Naseem Hamed is one of the most celebrated fighters from these shores and will likely be in attendance. Ahead of that, he gave his prediction to Pro Boxing Fans.
“I think AJ wins, to be honest. By KO.”
Very few in the sport, if any, are predicting the bout goes the full twelve rounds. The heavyweights have 45 knockouts between them and have both been stopped in defeat.
Promoter Frank Warren believes it will be a battle of the jabs, of which Dubois’ is stellar, whereas Joshua’s side say that Dubois can’t afford to get hit like he did by Croatia’s Hrgovic against a puncher like their man.
The winner will have a keen eye on the rematch between Usyk and Tyson Fury in December and push for an undisputed fight in the first half of 2025.
