Legendary MMA fighter Nate Diaz has shared his thoughts on the controversial upcoming clash between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul.
Reigning WBA world lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is set to lock horns with the Youtuber-turned-fighter in a ten round exhibition bout on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Davis’ last ring appearance came back in March when his world title defence against countryman Lamont Roach Jr ended in a majority decision draw, although it has been argued that ‘The Reaper’ Roach had done enough to be declared the winner.
As for Paul, the 28-year-old made his return to the ring back in June when he defeated former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their cruiserweight bout in California.
Speaking to Clocked N’ Loaded, retired UFC star Diaz, who faced Paul back in 2023 and lose on points, shared his thoughts on whether he thinks ‘Tank’ has what it takes to knock Paul out next month, saying, “he ain’t gonna do sh*t.”
“Gervonta is a f**king great boxer but he ain’t going to do sh*t against Jake Paul. I don’t got anybody [in the fight] but I don’t want to beat up somebody that small. I don’t want to lose to somebody that small either. It’s a great fight actually, I’m not hating on the fight, but my thoughts are let’s watch and see what happens.”
Whilst Davis is known for his thunderous punching power, the 30-year-old from Baltimore will be stepping into the unknown when he clashes with a man who stands eight inches taller than him, and who weighed in at a whopping 60 pounds heavier than him ahead of his clash with Chavez back in June. The pair will sport bigger gloves for the occasion, making a stoppage less likely.
