Former MMA star Nate Diaz has predicted the controversial heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul.
Paul is gearing up for the opportunity of a lifetime as he prepares to face the two-time unified heavyweight champion at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday December 19.
Whilst it had been speculated that the controversial match-up would be an exhibition, it has now been confirmed by Most Valuable Promotions that the eight three-minute round bout will be a sanctioned professional fight, with both fighters required to wear 10oz gloves on the night.
‘The Problem Child’ had originally been pencilled in to face WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis on November 14, but their exhibition clash was scrapped when ‘Tank’ found himself named in a civil lawsuit regarding domestic allegations.
It will be a monumental step-up in opposition for Paul when he faces Joshua next month. The 28-year-old from Phoenix has shared the ring with a number of solid opponents during his career however, including former UFC superstar Diaz.
Paul faced Diaz over ten rounds at the American AIrlines Center in Dallas back in August 2023, defeating his countryman via unanimous decision.
As posted on social media by Most Valuable Promotions, Diaz didn’t hesitate in making his thoughts known for the bout, making a shock prediction.
“Paul beats Joshua.”
Joshua was last in action back in September 2024 when he suffered a fifth round stoppage defeat to former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in their domestic showdown at Wembley Stadium, but is widely expected by most to deal with Paul with relative ease.
