Frank Warren plans to bring his promotions back with a bang, despite conceding the most he can hope for behind closed doors is to break even. Warren has indicated a preference to hold back the highly anticipated Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce show until the autumn in hope that fans of some number will be allowed access to live sports events by then. But Warren has a broadcast partner in BT Sport to satisfy and a large roster of fighters who need activity, so plans to return with a flurry of shows, at least in the early stages of boxing’s return.

"I’m hoping it’ll be in July and we’re looking to go at least one show a week," Warren revealed (full video interview below). "We’ve got a backlog, guys need to get a living. It’s to keep them busy. We’re only going to be allowed five fights per shows - that’s 10 boxers - so we’ve got to try and keep people busy."

Warren accepts he will not make money but does not want to squander the momentum built up by BT and boxing in general before the shutdown.

"We’ve already done the numbers, it just doesn’t work," Warren explained. "We’ve got no live gate and you’ve got to bear in mind the cost we’re going to incur to get these shows on. The testing, sanitising and PPE will be quite a costly exercise but we’ve got to do it. We’ve got to make boxing relevant and when live sport comes back on TV, we need to be there, boxing has to have its presence. We don’t want TV companies to think people aren’t missing it or can do without it. Also we’ve got to make sure these youngsters coming through don’t lose the enthusiasm. We’ve got to pull together to make sure boxing is seen and has a voice."
