There are plenty of active rivalries in the heavyweight scene right now.
Although all of the belts are currently held by just two men, that hasn’t stopped there being plenty of movement in the division of late.
Those belts will be contested in the next couple of months as Daniel Dubois looks to defend his IBF title against Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium and Oleksandr Usyk puts his WBA, WBO and WBC titles on the line in his rematch against Tyson Fury in December in Saudi Arabia.
Just below that and waiting in the wings for their chance to step up are many contenders, including the likes of Zhilei Zhang and Martin Bakole.
Zhang is coming off the back of some big wins in the last year or so having twice stop Brit Joe Joyce and also having knocked out Deontay Wilder back in March.
Bakole, meanwhile, a man who deems himself ‘the most avoided fighter‘ in the division is also riding high having stopped Carlos Takam in March and most recently brushing aside the challenge of young American prospect Jared Anderson who he stopped inside five earlier this month.
Speaking to Box Nation he was asked how a fight with the Chinese heavyweight would go if the two were to meet and he didn’t hesitate to promise to end his career.
“I’ll stop him He’s too old for me. I have power. I have big engine like him. I can move. I’ll do things no one has ever done. And he will cry like Anderson after the fight, or maybe retire.”
