Moses Itauma has quickly become the hottest property in heavyweight boxing.
Itauma had a brief but successful amateur career with 24 wins and no losses, including multiple national, European and World Youth titles.
Since turning over in January 2023, he has won all 13 of his fights, the last nine of which have been inside the first two rounds, and 11 in total by KO. Last weekend, he stopped veteran Dillian Whyte inside the first two minutes and is now being linked with all-time greats like Oleksandr Usyk. While Tyson Fury thinks he already has enough to beat the Ukrainian, many believe it is still too soon for the 20-year-old.
Another heavyweight has now offered to face Itauma, and is is a man that is current ranked number one in the WBC rankings.
Speaking to iFL TV, Lawrence Okolie was asked if he would share the ring with the young star and didn’t hesitate to give his answer.
“Absolutely, yeah. Yeah, next. He’s one of the only boxers I can say I a fan of, maybe cause he’s young or whatever else.
“However, if there’s a time to fight him it’s before he gets too much experience. So Dillian Whyte, OK cool, but if he beats a Parker, by the time you get to fight him, he’s a seasoned pro. The guy’s 13 and 0, great KO power, great everything, whatever, but maybe someone can old man him and it’s time now.”
Okolie is a former cruiserweight and bridgerweight champion who has had two fights up at heavyweight, including a win over Kevin Larena in July, so could present another good step on his journey for Itauma.
