Terence Crawford is searching for his next opponent in 2025.
Crawford was last in action in Los Angeles back in August when he defeated Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to win the WBA super-welterweight title.
It was the first time that ‘Bud’ had competed up at 154lbs, having moved up from welterweight following his destructive ninth round stoppage win over Errol Spence Jr in July 2023.
That win saw Crawford become undisputed at 147lbs, though he was stripped of his IBF belt after being unable to meet the mandatory challenger due to a contracted rematch with Spence which ultimately didn’t materialise.
The decision to strip ‘Bud’ caused some anger within boxing, but the man it benefitted was Jaron Ennis, who was elevated from interim champion to full champion in the process.
Ennis has since made a successful defence of his title, defeating David Avanesyan inside five rounds back in July, and he returns against Karen Chukhadzhian at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia this weekend.
‘Boots’ had previously met Chukhadzhian in January 2023, winning every round on all three scorecards to claim a one-sided win, with a lot of fans criticising the need for a rematch.
Ennis has also aired his frustrations, and instead has made it clear that he would love the opportunity to take on Crawford at some point next year.
Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya has given his take on the potential fight on social media, and was completely dismissive of Ennis.
“Please. Terence Crawford will destroy ‘Boots haha.”
Another man who has made a prediction for the fight is Ryan Garcia, and he saw it as a much closer affair than De La Hoya does.
