Oscar De La Hoya has had a dig at Devin Haney’s response to his loss against Ryan Garcia being overturned to a no contest.

Garcia secured the best win of his career in April when he knocked Haney down three times on the way to a majority decision victory on the scorecards. However, the joy was short-lived after it was revealed that ‘King Ryan’ had failed two drugs test for banned substance Ostarine.

The 25-year-old has always maintained his innocence and pointed towards contaminated supplements for the cause of the positive results, but has now accepted his punishment from the New York State Athletic Commission of a one year ban, a $10,000 fine, the return of his guaranteed purse to Golden Boy Promotions – reported to be over $1million – and the result overturned to a no contest.

Reacting to the news, Haney shared a video of him dancing to celebrate having an undefeated record again. He also said he would take time away from the sport until a potential rematch, a move that Garcia’s promoter, De Le Hoya, has called ‘pathetic’.

Taking to Instagram, the Golden Boy CEO says Haney should enjoy his retirement and warned that nobody will forget the beating he took.

“Let’s talk about Devin Haney. Devin Haney, you’re pathetic. You’re dancing around at a bowling alley because you got your decision reversed. Nobody is going to forget that beating you took.

Oh, and let’s not forget. You’re accusing me of not paying you. Bro, you just do not sell. That’s the bottom line. You can audit my company anytime you want. I pay every fighter, and I’m pretty sure you got that from Canelo from what he started.

So, bro, that one-year layoff, that retirement. Just enjoy it. F**k you!”

Haney responded to the promoter claiming he was still owed money.

Haney was set to return to the ring in a mandatory defence of his WBC super-lightweight belt against Sandor Martin, however after disappointing purse bid results were announced he pulled out of the fight and requested to be made Champion in Recess instead.
