Jake Paul is just one week away from making his return to boxing.

The 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer will clash with Mexico’s former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Paul’s most recent ring appearance came last November when he defeated 58-year-old heavyweight icon Mike Tyson via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their controversial showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Chavez could become just the second fighter to defeat ‘The Problem Child’ since the 28-year-old made his debut back in 2020. Paul’s only career loss came at the hands of Britain’s Tommy Fury in Diriyah two years ago.

Legendary fighter-turned-promoter Oscar De La Hoya has shared his thoughts on the upcoming battle between Paul and Chavez, admitting in an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles that the 39-year-old Mexican appears to be ‘doing better’.

“I can see redemption, you know because he’s had a tough life, he’s had a difficult [life] you know being the son of the father and then the expectations, the pressure, he got involved with drugs and this and that, and you know he seems like he’s doing better and he’s doing good, and I’ve seen him train lately. ”

“I’ve talked to the father and he says ‘Look, if my son shows up to the ring the way I’ve seen him in the last few months’, I think he said last six, seven months, he goes ‘Yeah he’s gonna knock out Jake Paul’.”

Chavez could potentially derail Paul’s chances of securing himself a world title shot in the near future, but will more importantly have his sights set on proving the doubters wrong after what has been a difficult professional career for the former world champion.
