Oscar De La Hoya Delivers KO Prediction For Mike Tyson-Jake Paul: “Be Careful”

Mike Tyson will return to the boxing ring this winter, facing YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul over eight two-minute rounds.

The bout – which was initially postponed due to an ulcer flare-up on Tyson’s part – has received considerable backlash for the three-decade age gap between competitors. Paul has a fraction of the experience and skill of the Tyson who was undisputed heavyweight champion in the late eighties, but a comeback at 58 will, most feel, take that off the table entirely.

Paul has built a record of 10-1 in the sport, mostly against retired MMA fighters, and has seven stoppages. At 28, he has activity and youth on his side.

Hall of Fame fighter turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya believes that will be the difference. In an interview with Club Shay Shay he was asked if ‘Iron’ Mike was a serious opponent for Paul. He said no, particularly if the fight goes past six minutes.

“Come on. 61-years-old? I love Tyson. He’s got a puncher’s chance for the first three rounds. I am a little scared of Tyson getting hurt after the third round. Jake Paul’s a big boy. He’s what, 26-years-old? Tyson’s 61. I’m happy for Tyson that he’s making money and he still loves it and is in shape. Just be careful.”

The event will be, in a first for boxing, streamed live on Netflix. There is some well-matched action serving as chief support in the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Tyson, dismissing any criticism on his main event, recently warned Paul “you better come in shape. Your health depends on it.”
